Latest News Update
If you’ve found this post, thank you for sticking with the website.
I’m conscious that I haven’t really concentrated on updating the website for quite some time, but a lot has been happening outside of the website over the last couple of years. Image-wise I’ve been mainly uploading to my Facebook and Instagram pages so you can keep up to date there with what’s been taken. My Twitter/X page has been closed down as I have become really disillusioned with the direction that site has been going lately.
Outside of the photography, we have now moved house, and now live near Leyburn in North Yorkshire. We’re on the northern edge of the Yorkshire Dales now, and have vast areas of moorland to explore. This will open up new possibilities for species to photograph. It took over a year to complete on the house move so that was particularly stressful, but we’re so glad we made the move. I’ll be keeping the Wharfedale Wildlife Photography name on this website, Facebook and Instagram pages (mainly because it will be too much hassle to change them over!!).
Late 2023 & January 2024 saw us spend 6 weeks in Australia touring to different places, mainly in Queensland, and visiting family. For a wildlife photographer this trip was incredible & I took so many images of iconic Australian wildlife. Please keep an eye out for new galleries which will be added soon.
With the Australia trip being so long we didn’t get the opportunity to travel very far during 2024, but it meant we had time to explore what is on our new doorstep. Lots of images from the immediate area to come. We did go to the Global BirdFair weekend in Rutland, and this gave us some inspiration for a trip next year.
So, what does 2025 hold for photography? Well, as alluded to above, we have a 2 week trip to Tobago in March which we’re really looking forward to. We also have a weekend planned to Keilder for a dark sky photography workshop, return visits to Kefalonia and Finland (where I’ll be introducing a friend to photographing the bears), a week in Devon/Cornwall (when our daughter graduates from Plymouth University) plus more time exploring the moors locally for new subjects. I’ll hopefully spend some more time birdwatching new & different areas as well. I may make a return to craft fairs for selling prints etc but I’ve not made a final decision on that one yet.
