My name is Richard Greenwood, a nature & wildlife photographer previously based in Burley in Wharfedale, in West Yorkshire. In 2023 we moved house and I now live near Leyburn, on the northern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. This has opened up a whole range of new opportunities for sites to explore and subjects to find. I will still retain the name Wharfedale Wildlife Photography though.
I have always been interested in wildlife, especially birds, since I was a child, but my interest has been renewed with the advent of digital photography. I first picked up a digital SLR when I treated my self to a Canon 450D for my 40th birthday. This was coupled with a basic Tokina 80-400 zoom which proved to be a wonderful learning kit.
I apply post-processing to my photos by using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Creative Cloud.
My main interest remains birds, especially birds of prey, but I am also interested in mammals. Having spent a number of years as a sports diver, I have a huge interest in the life in, around & under our seas.
