I’ve wanted to see a Dotterel for a long time. They are stunning birds, but normally turn up in out of the way places, being birds of high moorland.

A few settled on the Great Orme in North Wales recently and, as I was taking Dom back to Bangor Uni, it was a simple detour to take. I don’t think I’ve ever photographed such a confiding subject, with the birds coming within a few metres of photographers & bird watchers on site.
